Not that there isn’t a lot to choose from:
- The arrogance.
- The disconnect from reality.
- The racism.
- The apparent tone deafness to how things like Nazi salutes might be a problem.
- The complete disregard for constitutional freedoms for anyone but himself.
No, the scariest thing about Donald Trump is the people who support him, and I’m not talking about the recognizably dangerous people who have assaulted protesters. I mean the otherwise intelligent, articulate people who look reasonable, but still find a way to rationalize the most irrational person to run for president in decades.
If you missed last night’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, you really need to see her interview with a group of young, educated Trump supporters. It will help you to understand them see what is wrong with the electorate.
The most disturbing line for me: When a young woman, responding to Trump’s retweeting of white supremacist ideology, says, “People like to hate people...it’s fun!” I guess Holocaust victims, families of those who were lynched, and people who have been beaten senseless because of their sexual orientation just need to loosen up.
The worst part is that even if Kim Jong-Donald is soundly defeated and goes back to reality television, these people will still be around, waiting for another “inspiring leader.”
